Choose the Best Fishing Rod

A fishing rod is a long pole with a line which is used for fishing. In simpler terms a fishing rod is a pole or stick which has a line at whose end a hook is attached.Fishing rods come in many sizes, lengths and configurations depending on which situation they are to be used for.Different types of fishing rods are designed for different types of fishing.

There are various kinds of fishing rods, these include spinning rods, fly rods, surf rods, sea rods, ice rods, carbon fiber rods, casting rods, trolling rods, ultra-light rods among others.

Float fishing rods are rods that are used for general fishing and match fishing. As float fishing requires a lot of slack line between the hook and the angler float fishing rods are usually made long.So as the float rods can run smoothly they are usually tied with small, high frame guides to keep them away from the rod blank to allow them to run smoothly.

Ultra-light rods are used to fish for small fish species. They provide more sport since their lines are light and also have small lures.Sea rods are usually for use in the ocean.Sea rods are long, extremely thick and have heavy handles.

For surf casting rods, long grip handles which are intended for two-handed casting methods.Trolling fishing is when bait at the end of the line is cast to the side of the of the moving boat in the water.Trolling rods are generally made to be long and heavily built.Thin and flexible rods are used for fly rods in which “artificial “fly is cast.

Some of the components of a fishing rod include the grip or handle, trigger seat, real seat, ferrules.Grips are composed of different materials such as cork, foam or sometimes wood which provide comfort while casting and reeling in a fish.A number of grips are cork grips, foam grips and pistol grips.

The cylinders on which fishing lines are wound are known as reels. Some types of reels are spinning reels, spin casting reels, baitcasting reels and fly casting reels.Spinning reels are popular since they allow long casts with light bait and are relatively cheaper than other reels. For spin casting reels, the spool which is the part where the line leaves and returns, is stationary. The spool for a baitcasting reel lies perpendicular to the rod rather than parallel to it which is the case for other kinds of reels. In a fly casting rod, both the reel and the rod are light and the rod is flexible to allow for easier casting.

Rods can also be grouped according to the type of waters they are used in and include fiberglass rods, bamboo, and graphite rods.
